Ellen Litwiller is an artist in residence in San Rafael. After graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she returned to the Bay Area and works in the Natural History Museum Exhibit industry as a muralist, illustrator, model maker and preparator for over 20 years. She continues to work freelance for the museum industry as well as showing her paintings throughout the Bay Area. Her interest in combining art with a scientific narrative and having extensive experience with show installations comes through in the solo and museum shows she carefully puts together.
Her work is in museum collections, she has won awards and is active in the arts community she lives in. Working closely with scientist has shown Ellen that the passion and commitment of artist and scientist are closely linked, both worlds are based on a curiosity for observing and appreciating the world we live on and the universe we live in.
