As an Artist in Residence in Whiskeytown National Park  I was inspired by the geological story and extreme biodiversity that exist in the park. The discovery of gold by non-natives completely transformed the people and their environment so I used gold as a way to connect the images together.

Some of the botanicals like Puccenellia hollowii, are so rare that the only place on Earth it exists is a rocky patch of ground within the park boundaries.  While others plants are more common but equally important in the biodiversity of the region like the Ponderosa Pine or Poison Oak.
